A Few Things I've Learnt As A Full Time Blogger..

Hey everyone. I've decided that I'm going to start doing more personal posts to accompany the outfits. I love posting the fashion looks but I created my blog as a place to write down my thoughts so I'm doing both at once. Expect to see more fashion posts with personal musings/rants alongside.

I thought I'd start these new posts with a few things I've learnt as a full time blogger. I've been doing this for over a year now so if you're interested just read on...

It's Hard Work

First and foremost let's be real for a second. Being a blogger is bloody hard. Especially if you're active on all social media including YouTube.
There's no get home and switch off - you are working every hour of the day you're awake. It may not be conventional work but when you wake up and reach for you're phone, that's it - you're off. And you won't stop until you go to sleep. Filming and editing a video, shooting multiple blog and instagram posts, regularly updating all social media platforms, researching future content, keeping your tax accounts up to date, website development and all the other little jobs don't take 2 minutes.
People will tell you it's not work / your job isn't a job / what and easy job you must have. You'll role your eyes. Which moves me on to my next one..

People Will Have An Opinion

Get ready to have opinions forced upon you every time you meet someone new. I dread the question, 'So what do you do for a job, Hannah?' because 9 times out of 10 this will be followed up by a 10 minute conversation of ignorant statements and lines of questioning you wouldn't dare ask anybody else. And what is it with people straight up asking how much money you make? Alright Steve I've known you 5 minutes I'm not asking you what underwear you're wearing can we have a level of respect please???

But seriously. You will get the occasional, 'OH WOW THAT SOUNDS AMAZING' but don't be surprised if that's followed by 'that must be so easy'/'so you just basically take pictures for instagram everyday'/'you must have loads of free time.'
My favourite is the 'any one can do it' line. This makes me literally laugh out loud. Okay then mate - do it. I'd love to see you set up lighting and sound for a video plus adjust the ISO, f stop, shutter speed on a camera. How about post production.. can you colour correct? Do you know how to sync video and audio? How's your website development and coding? Must be tip-top. I would honestly love to see you try.
Annoying. I have no problem with people taking an interest in my job. I get it -it's fucking awesome. But do they have to be so rude about it?
It's Okay To Have A Day Off

Okay so maybe a full day is not very realistic but you are allowed an hour off to watch Jeremy Kyle if that's what you want to do. I've found myself feeling SO guilty in a morning after waking up, having my breakfast, watching Judge Rinder and then.. Damn! Its 11am and I've done nothing!
Chill. It's okay.
Why is it so hard to allow yourself these moments? Why are we so switched on all the time? I've come to the realisation that this is my job and I am allowed to handle my business however I want. I certainly won't feel bad for taking time out to go to the gym, cinema or have some family time.

It Can Be Difficult To Get The DRIVE

On the completely other end of things it can be really difficult to not procrastinate and get your life in order when you're working from home. I go through spells of this exact feeling where I can't find the drive to do all the things I need to do. I have a list as long as my arm and to be honest - I just can't be arsed. I know, how bad is that!
But it happens. I find it helps to break the list down in to morning, afternoon and evening. Focus on your morning tasks before you even think about moving on to the next group. This makes it much easier and manageable.
Also take time out every now and then. Say to yourself okay when I've done this, this and this - I can watch an episode of Ru Pauls Drag Race/ go to the gym/ meet a friend for coffee/ whatever it is.

Get dressed in a morning, do your makeup, put your shoes on. It really helps,  I promise. It's hard to not act like a slob when you're wearing PJ bottoms and a stained baggy t-shirt that hasn't been washed in a few days. So, dress to work.
It's The Best Job

This is the only opinion that people tend to have that I can get on board with. It is awesome. Seriously awesome. And I'm so lucky to be able to do it, I know that. Sometimes you just have to take a moment to be grateful and this is something I've been doing daily. I love that I don't work for someone else. I love that I get to spend all day at home with my kitten, Ralph. I love that I can drop everything to be there for a friend/family member if they need me. I love that I can go on holiday whenever I want. It's a truly magical profession and I couldn't be more proud to call myself a blogger.

Jeffree Star X Manny MUA Collab Review + Swatches | Eclipse Skin Frost & Daddy Liquid Lipstick

When the Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Manny MUA collaboration went live, it sold out quicker than I could get my hands on it. So when I got a re-stock email from my homies at Beauty Bay, I popped those goodies in my basket as fast as possible. I decided on the 'Eclipse' skin frost (my first Jeffree Star skin frost) and 'Daddy' liquid lipstick.

My order arrived by midday the very next day and I filmed my review the following hour. You can check out my full, in depth review and first impressions above but i'll do a mini review here too.

So.. the eclipse skin frost. And before I go any further I think it's worth noting that as far as human's go I'm quite pale. My foundations of choice are called 'Ivory' and 'Creamy Vanilla'.. Thats about a NC15/20 in MAC.
So bare that in mind as the shades may look different on my pale skin.
I've never had a skin frost but have debated getting Ice Cold for a while, I just worried it may be TOO light for me as when I've seen swatches online, the pigment pay off is insane and it comes out gleaming like the moon.

When I saw the colour of this one I knew it was the one. Its a champagne / peach colour and not too far from my own skin tone. I think for that reason, the pay off is not absolutely blinding when you first apply it. It gives quite a natural glow but is definitely buildable and get's more intense as you apply. I'd describe the texture as a shimmer although there are flecks of glitter in the formula.

When I saw 'Daddy' liquid lipstick for the first time in the reveal video I knew I needed to get my hands on it. It is quite literally my PERFECT shade. Anyone who knows me knows I love browney nude colours. It applies super easily and leaves no streaks. The colour is beautiful, not too light and not too dark. I feel like it really would suit all skin tones. I ate a sub sandwich after I filmed the review and was happily surprised to see no difference in the quality after eating, it looked good as new!

Back To Black..

Well guys, we had a good run. I made it a few weeks without the signature all-black look. But this week the sun finally came out and the little sadist in me decided on an all black, heat absorbing outfit complete with skin tight faux-leather trousers. But I'm not mad about it..

Black is for any season and truth be told I kinda missed it. Also, it's been a while. Sorry about that. But I can absolutely promise you content is on the way. I've hired an extra body to help me one day a week so be prepared! Videos are still going up weekly on my YouTube channel and you can always catch up with me on Instagram. But until next time.. Be safe.
